Elon Musk Imposes Read Rate Limit on Twitter
Twitter CEO Elon Musk has imposed a read rate limit on the platform in order to curb “extreme levels of data scraping”. Verified accounts can only read up to 6,000 posts daily while unverified accounts are restricted to just 600 posts per day and new unverified accounts have an even lower limit of 300 post reads per day.
Dogecoin Gains Amid Growing Twitter Turmoil
Despite the controversial decision by Musk, Dogecoin (DOGE) continued to trade and saw 1.2% growth in the last 24 hours. At press time, it was trading at $0.678 after gaining 3% since last week.
Crypto Celebrities React To Musk’s Stunt
Binance CEO Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao commented that „viewing should not be limited“, adding that „posting and commenting should be“. He explained that with this move, artificial intelligence bots would be prevented from retrieving data for their own large language models. On-chain sleuth ZachXBT sarcastically thanked The Dogefather with a screenshot of an error message returned by Twitter due to the imposed limits.
Musk’s Aim To Curb Data Scraping & System Manipulation
The new limits are part of Musk’s initiative to address extreme levels of data scraping and system manipulation on Twitter by preventing AI bots from using users‘ data for their own purposes such as language models or phishing attacks targeting crypto investors.
Conclusion
By imposing these limits, Elon Musk hopes to prevent malicious actors from exploiting users‘ information through data scraping and other forms of system manipulation on Twitter while also providing basic safety measures for all users regardless of verification status or account type
