NFL Launches First Licensed NFT Game

The National Football League (NFL) is set to launch its first officially licensed Non-Fungible Token (NFT) game – NFL Rivals – ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft. This fantasy football game puts players in the general manager role, where they must make plays, manage athletes, and win against opposing teams. The game is free-to-play; however, users can buy, sell, and trade NFL Player NFTs via Mythical Games’ online marketplace.

Mythical Games‘ Early Success

Developer of the first NFL-licensed NFT game Mythical Games launched early access to its fantasy football game on Apple’s iOS App Store and Google’s Android Play Store on Wednesday 26th April. During its beta period it reported 150,000 players with over $1.6 million in NFT sales according to CEO John Linden. The developer aims to attract over 10 million players by the start of the new season this fall.

Unique Pricing & Rarity Factors

The rarity and other metrics of each NFL athlete’s NFT card vary resulting in unique pricing based on these factors; “common” player cards cost around $8 whereas “legendary” player cards cost thousands of dollars or more .

2023 Draft Celebrations

Coinciding with the 2023 NFL Draft ,NFL Rivals looks to introduce themed in-game challenges and player packs as a way for fans and gamers alike to join quests and gain access to exciting prizes.
